WHY GIVING MATTERS

Tithing is a Biblical principle that reflects obedience, acknowledges God’s provision, supports the church, cultivates generosity, demonstrates trust in God, and blesses others. It’s an important practice that helps believers align their finances with their faith and participate in God’s work in the world. Jesus taught more about money and tithing than any other topic in the New Testament.


OBEDIENCE TO GOD
Tithing is an act of obedience to God’s commands. He doesn’t need our money. It is meant for our benefit, to put into practice following His commands and watching as He fulfills His promises. Malachi 3:10 says, “‘Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby, put me to the test,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.’”

SUPPORT FOR THE CHURCH
Tithes support the work of the church, enabling it to carry out its mission of spreading the Gospel, helping those in need, and fostering community. In the Old Testament, tithes supported the Levites and the work of the temple (Numbers 18:21).

TRUST IN GOD
Tithing is a tangible expression of trust in God’s provision. By giving a portion of our income, we demonstrate faith that God will meet our needs. This is reinforced in Matthew 6:33 where it is written: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.”

BLESSING OTHERS
Through tithing, we have the opportunity to bless others and participate in God’s work on earth. Our contributions can help provide for the needy, support missions, and fund various church ministries. Acts 20:35 reminds us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
